1.10.15 Music knows no borders
How musical is man, what is it that makes people musical, what is music and musicality, who creates, performs and listens to music, how music relates to culture and society, and how all this can be studied – these are the questions raised and explored by ethnomusicology – an area of anthropological knowledge which everyone interested had a chance to get to know better during the open seminar ‘Introduction to the anthropology of music’ held at Tomsk State University from 16 to 21 September.

25.07.15 Science as a form of life: a summer school on the anthropology of science and big technical systems in Bulgaria
From June 22nd to July 1st, 2015, a summer school ‘The anthropology of science and big technical systems: identity of scientists and engineers’, organized by the Department of Applied and Institutional Sociology (Plovdiv University n.a. Paisius of Hilendar) with support from the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology (EASST) and the TSU Laboratory for Social and Anthropological Research (LSAR), was held in Bulgaria. Twelve students – LSAR assistants – took part in this event which over its 15-year history has for the first time become international.
During three days, from June 17th to June 19th, 2015, the school themed ‘Migration and the ethnicization of the urban space’ was held at Tomsk. It was attended by experts on migration, diaspora and urbanism as well as by undergraduate and postgraduate students and young researchers from Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, and from abroad – Germany, Poland, and Kazakhstan.
On June 1st, 2015, an exhibition titled ‘People and Cultures of Siberia. Photographs from the Siberian Expeditions of Finnish Linguist and Anthropologist Kai Donner’ was launched at the TSU Centre of Culture.
