On February 18, 2014, Valerian Kozmin, Head of the Department of Ethnography and Anthropology, Faculty of History, St. Petersburg State University, passed away in his 64th year after a short illness.

On October 14-15, 2014, International Research Conference "Man in a Changing World. Problems of Identity and Social Adaptation in History and at Present: Methodology, Methods and Practices of Research" will be held at Tomsk State University. The Conference is organized by TSU Department of History and Laboratory for Social and Anthropological Research.

On 25-27 of September, 2014 International Research Conference "Korean Diaspora: the Issue of Identity" dedicated to the 150th Anniversary of the resettlement of Koreans in Russia will be held at Tomsk State University.

Under the project ‘Man in A Changing World. Identity and Social Adaptation: Past and Present’, Senior Research Fellow of the Laboratory for Social and Anthropological Research Vyacheslav V. Shevtsov developed an electronic index for the Tomsk Provincial Gazette’s unofficial content (1857-1917).

December 16-21, Nicholai Ssorin-Chaikov, expert in Anthropology, Researcher and Lecturer at the University of Cambridge (Department of Social Anthropology) will deliver a course of lectures “Introduction to Social Anthropology” at the TSU Laboratory for Social and Anthropological Research (Russian Government Grant No. 14.B25.31.0009).
