The importance of the defeat of fascism for the post-war development of Germany and Russia
On June 8, 2015, a roundtable discussion will be held at TSU, dedicated to implications of the victory over fascism in May 1945 for Germany and Russia. The discussion will feature both Russian and international experts:
- Honorary professor of political science and contemporary history of University of Manheim (Germany) Egbert Jahn, presentation titled, ‘The defeat or the liberation of Germany on May 8/9, 1945’;
- Professor of Kemerovo State University Oleg E. Terekhov, presentation titled, ‘Fatal dates in the German history of the 20th century: symbolism in destruction and rebirth’;
- Associate Professor of Kemerovo State University Yuriy L. Govorov, presentation, titled ‘The price of the victory over fascism and its implications for USSR/RF’.
The event is organized by European Union Centre in Siberia, Laboratory for Social and Anthropological Research, and Friedrich Ebert Foundation (Germany) in Russia.
The discussion will be provided with simultaneous Russian-German translation service.
