Orthodox landscape of taiga Siberia
This research is a continuation of the field and archaeological desktop studies conducted by the faculty of TSU departments of history and philology, as well as TSU Research Library. During the expeditions of 1985-2012 unique samples of Cyrillic texts of the XV-XX centuries and biographical and religious narratives reflecting adaptation strategies and practices of Russian peasant population of the region were collected.
Today, the research interests of the group are focused on studying:
- the networks of sacred places and objects in taiga Siberia;
- the interaction between the official and “people’s” Orthodoxy;
- the mechanisms and factors of formation of ethno-confessional identity of Russian peasant population in the Tomsk region during the 1890s-1930s.
Along with research, the student’s seminar “Social networks and structures of everyday life” is conducted under the supervision of Artyom V. Vasiliev.
